Boudoir Photography Should Feel Like You
There is no one way to do a boudoir session.
You don't have to show up with a suitcase full of traditional lingerie. You don't have to suddenly become someone completely different when you step in front of my camera. And you definitely don't have to fit some idea of what you think a boudoir client is “supposed” to look like.
In fact, some of my favorite boudoir sessions happen when a woman brings pieces of herself into the studio.
Your style. Your personality. The things you love. The things that make you feel sexy. The things that make you feel like you.
Because we're not creating someone else's boudoir photographs.
We're creating yours.
For this session, we mixed classic black and white lingerie with statement jewelry, boots, different textures and several areas throughout the studio.
And I LOVE what happened.
There are images that feel dark and sexy. There are images that are softer and more feminine. There are bold moments. There are quiet moments.
But throughout the entire gallery, she still looks like herself.
YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO BRING
One of the things I hear from women when they're considering a boudoir session is that they have absolutely no idea what they would wear.
That's okay.
You don't have to figure all of this out before you book.
Maybe it's delicate lace and bare feet.
Maybe it's your favorite bodysuit.
Maybe it's cowboy boots.
Maybe it's a piece of jewelry that feels unmistakably you.
Maybe it's something that's been sitting in your closet forever because you've never had the right reason to wear it.
And maybe it's a combination of all of those things.
We'll talk about what you want your photographs to feel like, what you're comfortable wearing and what pieces make sense for the session we're creating.
You bring yourself.
I'll help with the rest.
YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW HOW TO POSE EITHER
This is the other big one.
You do not need to walk into my studio knowing what to do with your hands, where to look, how to arch your back or how in the world you're supposed to position your legs.
That's my job.
I guide you through your session and pose you from head to toe so that you aren't standing there wondering what you're supposed to do next.
And we'll create variety.
We'll move around the studio. We'll change outfits. We'll change the light. We'll photograph the big, dramatic images and the little details.
That's how we end up with a gallery that tells a story instead of 30 photographs that all look the same.
SO WHAT SHOULD YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Maybe soft.
Maybe bold.
Maybe sexy.
Maybe romantic.
Maybe a little unexpected.
Usually, it's a combination of several of those things.
Because when you book a boudoir experience with me, the goal isn't to make you look like one of the women you've seen on my website.
The goal is for you to look at your photographs and think, “There I am.”
That's the difference.
