What a Boudoir Session Really Looks Like | Shreveport Boudoir Photographer

If you've ever looked at boudoir photos and thought, “I could never do that,” I want you to know something: you absolutely can.

You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to know what looks good on camera. You don't even need to walk into the studio feeling completely confident.

That's my job.

As a Shreveport boudoir photographer, one of my favorite parts of what I do is taking all of those little things women worry about before a session and making them something they don't have to think about once, they're here.

You don't have to know what you're doing.

I guide you through your entire session—from where to put your hands and how to position your legs to where to look and even the tiniest adjustments that make a photograph work.

And we don't spend the entire session doing one type of pose or trying to make every photograph look the same.

We move.

We change outfits. We use different areas of the studio. We photograph the soft, pretty images and the darker, moodier ones. We get the photographs where you're looking straight into the camera feeling completely confident—and the ones that feel like a quiet moment I just happened to capture.

What do you even wear to a boudoir session?

This is probably one of the questions I get asked the most.

And the answer is: you have options.

My Shreveport boudoir studio has a client closet with more than 300 pieces available for my clients to use. That means you don't have to go out and buy an entire boudoir wardrobe before your session.

We'll find pieces that photograph beautifully and make sense for the look we're creating.

But here's something else I love showing women:

Boudoir doesn't have to mean lingerie.

Some of my favorite photographs from this session came from something as simple as a white tee and black bottoms.

It's sexy without trying too hard—and it creates an entirely different feeling than traditional lingerie.

That's also why I love incorporating multiple looks into a session. Changing something as simple as an outfit can completely change the mood of your photographs.

Your session can feel like YOU.

Maybe you love bold color.

Maybe you're drawn to something softer and more romantic.

Maybe you're a black-lingerie-every-time kind of girl.

There isn't one “right” way to do boudoir.

Your session doesn't have to look exactly like anyone else's.

And yes—you really get to see your pictures that day.

This is one of my favorite parts of the experience.

After we're finished photographing, you'll see your images the same day and choose the photographs you love.

There's something incredibly fun about watching someone see herself through my camera for the first time—especially when she walked in telling me how nervous she was.

Because somewhere along the way, the nerves usually disappear.

And then I hear some version of:

“Wait…that's ME?!”

Yep. That's you.
